Title: Spring (i) Rating: G Length: 149 Competitor: Raoul Round/Fight: 2/A Summary: They meet in the spring.
-
They meet in the spring after the snow has all melted – a cynical knight, with sharp wit that boasts years of experience in the mud and toil of the real world, and a new squire, solemn and dejected because she too knows the power of adversity. He extends to her an offer and she takes it eagerly, and neither of them can see the future but he feels it will be good and she will take any chance she is given.
When Third Company sets out, he looks at her, standing alone near her warhorse, and he gets a feeling that tells him he’s made a good choice. Perhaps it’s the determination on her face or the confidence in her stance that draws him to her, but Raoul knows that somehow he has found a kin in spirit. He knows that there is little that will bring them down.

I love how the focus is completely on Raoul and Kel and their bond here- one of my favorite little scenes has always been the moment that Kel realizes that Raoul isn't just doing her a favor or trying to be kind, but that she actually has something special which he needs and no one else can provide. This just reminded me why I love it all over again.

Thank you guys! That bond is my favourite part about their relationship, too!
