Black is the colour of night, shading their clandestine meetings until she can hardly see the separation between her flesh and his; in the dark they are just two bodies wrapped up into one. His eyes, too, are black, invisible in the darkness, though she can feel them boring into hers.
“I have a wife,” he grates, and she cuts him off with her mouth on his before he can go on.
Yes, he has a wife, but she knows that Buri too has a lover on the side, and she knows that if he finds out, it will break Raoul’s heart. So Kel has a bargain with the K’miri woman, but though she’s doing it for her friend, Kel feels like she is blacker than the night and so she kisses him to hold her silence.
