“Can you imagine it? Me! Following little birdies into a Spidren’s nest!” Raoul lamented.
“And you let her lead?” Alanna stared at her tall friend, “Or more importantly, Wyldon let you let her lead?”
Raoul laughed, “Yes, not that he had much of a choice. Her friends were all behind her, cheering her on.”
“Good. That man—“
Raoul placed large hands on her shoulders, “He’ll let her stay. She was beautiful Alanna, I wish you could have seen her. She’s nothing like you were at that age though, much calmer. Bigger too.”
Alanna punched Raoul lightly in the gut.
“Hey! It’s an honest fact!”
She smirked up at him, then sobered.
“Raoul, can I ask you something?”
“Anything.”
“When she’s a squire, will you—“
“You don’t need to ask. I made that decision after the Spidrens. She’s born to be a leader Alanna, as much as you were born to be a prickly old hero—” he dodged another fist, “I’ll do everything I can to make her the best of them.”
