Rating: PG-13
Length: 378
Competitor: Dom
Round/Fight: 2/B
Summary: Kel’s shocking confession . . .
Keladry was sinking into the bath inhaling the lavender that had been added in order to make the bath relaxing. It had been 7 months since she’d had a proper, hot, relaxing bath. She closed her eyes and slipped a little further under.
Dom slipped in quietly and moved over to the bath and dipped his fingers in. He moved them to the outside of her thigh and moved them up. Startled, Kel’s eyes flew open and she sat up, splashing water over Dom.
“Relax, it’s just me,” he whispered in her ear.
“What are you doing in here?” she asked, smiling. “Where are the children?”
“They’re down with my mother. Did you really think you could slip in and not have anyone know?” he asked her.
“I’d hoped,” she said wistfully.
Dom again moved his hand to her thigh, and rubbed his hand up and down.
“I missed you,” he said.
“I know. I missed you too. And the children . . .” she trailed off, then sighed.
“Shilleen is walking now,” he told her.
“Really?” she asked. “I wish I had been here,”
Dom continued to tell her about the children while she was away. As he did Kel began to feel more and more depressed. While he had been spending time with the children she had been cold, miserable, fighting, and missing out on all their new milestones.
“Dom, stop,” she said abruptly and got up, grabbing a towel from him and wrapping it around herself.
“What’s wrong? Did I say something-”
“Everything, Dom. Everything. I get it. I should have been here to see Shilleen walk her first steps. I should have been here when Piers rode his pony for the first time. I get it OK?” she walked into the bed chamber and grabbed a dress that Dom had laid on the bed for her, then sat down and cried.
“Kel-”
“I don’t want to do this anymore, Dom. It’s . . . it’s too hard . . .” she fell back, rolled onto her stomach and cried…
Three months later she was called back to duty . . . And she rode out with tears in her eyes, leaving her heart behind with her husband and children once again . . .
