It's late, and he is in the hall outside her rooms. The torches are low and flickering, giving the halls a rather romantic cast.
Kel's hand rests lightly on his arm. He places his hand over hers.
"Dom," she says, "would you like your present a little bit early? It is after all almost midnight, and we are here."
"Why not," he says, smiling down at her. "I like getting presents."
She moves her hands, placing them both on his shoulders, and kisses him firmly, presses up against him. He kisses her back feverishly, almost doubting this to be real.
When they break, her smile is warm and inviting. "You're done waiting," Kel murmurs. "Thank you for doing it, but I have made up my mind. I appreciated the time to think over things, and I've come to a good conclusion."
"What?" he asks, breathless.
"I love you," she says. "Happy Midwinter."
He grasps her, hugs her. "You mean it?"
"I mean it," Kel affirms. "Would you like to come in?"
