Title: No Rating: G Length: 189 Competitor: Dom Round/Fight: 2/B Summary: It’s hard to let go . . .
Father, please,” Shilleen begged. “I want to be a knight as well”. “No,” Dom said. “I mean it Shilleen,” “But mother-” “I don’t care. I’m saying no”. “Your being completely unfair,” she told him angrily. He turned and stared at her for a long moment. She looked like her mother, only slimmer. With his hair colour. Her mannerisms sometimes reminded him of Keladry. She was stubborn and had that fairness and equality streak running through her, just like her mother. It took all of his being to love his daughter sometimes. “No, unfair is scarifying what you love for a woman who couldn’t even return the favour. Who loved her job more than her family!” he yelled. “Oh, so this is a way to get back at mother? Stop being so-” “I said no,” Dom snapped at his daughter. “But mother is a knight! Why can’t I be?” she yelled at him. “When you see her next you ask her. Go on!” he yelled back and walked out of the room slamming the door behind him. Why should any other man go through the pain he had gone through?

I feel so bad for Dom. The last line captured his grief perfectly. Lovely writing!

The line that struck me the most in this one is the line that says "It took all of his being to love his daughter sometimes." That is just so sad because that love should be unconditional and it speaks volumes about his tempestuous relationship with Kel.
