Title: Snow Fight
Rating: G
Length: 275
Competitor: Owen
Summary: The squires enjoy the winter weather.
:::
The squires were outside, enjoying the falling snow. Owen, Neal, and Merric were building snow forts to prepare for their snowball fight. “Come be on my team, Kel,” Owen cried, “Then it’ll be two on two.” Neal and Merric chorused in, agreeing that another player was necessary.
The squires spent ten more minutes fortifying their locations before beginning the fight. Owen and Kel strategized, deciding that Owen would make the ammunition while Kel fired away at their opponents. Kel had landed a few strikes on Neal when a glow began forming around him, making Kel squint. “Magic’s cheating!” Owen cried, “That’s not fair!”
Neal grinned. “No one ever told me that I couldn’t use it,” he shouted across the gap.
Owen was scowling, but his face quickly changed to one of delight. “Kel, let’s use Jump. He’s sitting right there,” Owen pointed to a sleeping form. “We can send him from behind and have him distract Neal so that he looses his grip on the spell.”
Kel grinned. “That’s inspired brilliance, Owen,” she told him, which made Owen glow, “Let’s do it.” Kel quickly gave Jump the assignment, who took it up excitedly. Thirty seconds later, Owen and Kel heard cries of disdain coming from their opponents.
“That’s not fair!” Neal yelled as Jump dragged him across the field. Kel and Owen began pelting him with snow balls.
Kel snickered. “No one said we couldn’t use dogs,” she told him, and gave Owen a high five. “Nicely planned,” she told him, “I’m cold, and I could do with hot tea. What about you?” Owen agreed, and the two ran for the shelter of the palace.
