Title: Where Does the Good Go? Rating: PG Length: 169 words Character: Wyldon Summary: break-ups are hard to understand. Note: Tegan & Sara asked the question better. I just took inspiration.
“Look me in the eye,” Kel demanded. “That’s the least you can do.” While you destroy me, she added silently.
He gazed at her, his brown eyes hard. She hadn’t felt such a chill emanating from him since she was an unruly page.
“We’ve been having this conversation for an hour.”
She shook her head, unable to move forward. “You can’t tell me that what you have with her is like what we have.”
“No, I can’t,” he said, frowning deeply. “It’s marriage. It’s more than sex. We have a family together.”
“You love me.”
He shook his head. “I can’t love you.”
“You won’t.”
“Can’t. Won’t. I’m not free to contemplate it. What does is matter in the end?”
Kel closed her eyes, rocking slightly on her feet. “How did you know when to let go?”
He cupped her cheek with one large hand. “I never had a hold of you, Keladry. There was nothing to let go of.”
“You had a hold of me from the beginning.”

Oh, ohhh - this tore me to bits. I love that Kel is trying to hold on, and Wyldon is letting go, and I don't think either of them really know what they are. This is gorgeous, all around.

Thank you both so much. It's hard not to feel for both of them.
