Title: The Chamber Sees All
Rating: Pg
Words: 489
Competitor: Raoul
Round/Fight: Final
Summary: The chamber remembers.
I watched her from my chamber as the one destined for greatness by her deeds alone, enter the training she was to surpass any boy.
I watched as she fell and got up again, fought against the things she hated.
I watched as she grew afraid that the only other like her, in the last two century’s, disliked her.
I watched as she grew a following of boys and men, fighters all.
I watched as she ditched the idiotic man-made exams pages had to do to become a Squire, to save her friend.
When she came to me, as they all eventually do, I showed her what I’m made of, and what her immediate fears were.
I watched as she was offered and accepted, the offer to become his squire.
I saw as she forgot her lessons and was dumped with the care of an ungrateful flying annoyance, and I saw her excel at her care of the undignified creature.
I saw as a man-boy, already spoken for, threw himself at her and her curiosity overtook her common sense as she accepted him.
I thought it was hilarious when her destined interrupted a very crucial moment, one which had the potential to change her entire destiny had they not been interrupted.
I saw as the tall dark one sat her down to give her the traditional ‘talk’ and the mix of jealousy, confusion and desire he was feeling.
I saw the exact moment she realized she had unconventional feelings for him and how much more aware of him she became, how it affected her work for him.
I saw as his feelings for her grew, and how he desired her above no other, using another warrior woman to enact his passions and desires out, in an effort to crush his feelings for his Squire.
Then she came to me, and there were more important things for her Rite of Passage to concentrate on, than her unacknowledged passion for her destined.
I watched as she became antsy with her appointed task, and saw as she felt like a caged animal desperate to break out, but secured by bonds of duty.
I watched as her lover-boy was whisked away by unfortunate circumstances, and how she was relieved she wouldn’t have to break it off with him.
I watched as she fulfilled the task I had appointed her.
I watched as she guided and improved the lives of those around her, high and low born alike.
I watched as her and her destined finally acknowledged their feelings for each other, and how they grew together, had children bigger than them both, and succeeded in ushering in a new era for their part of the world.
I reveled in the legend she became, and the epic feats she succeeded in doing.
And now, in the time of telephones and electricity, I watch her great and great great grandchildren carry on her inspiring legacy.
