The desk chair swings around, all black leather a swivel, expensive to her trained eyes.
“Keladry. I’ve been expecting you.”
She closes the door and leans against it, dark in jeans and a hoodie. Her hair is a long pixie cut framing her face, and her eyes are darkened and expressionless. She only nods.
“We’ve been hoping to get in touch with you for quite some time, Keladry.”
“It’s Kel, Mr Cooper. I did notice when you posted agents and security cameras on recon around my house. Queenscove was threatening to do something about it.”
“As per his instructions from Lioness.” She blinks in surprise, and he hides a satisified smirk.
“You won’t be with her though.”
“The Lioness is one of the best you have, Mr Cooper. I came here to work with the best.”
“She is. But there is better.”
Keladry is silent, and stares across his desk, holding his questioning glare. She holds it until he looks away, at the single sentimental object she can see on his desk, a photoframe surrounded by the wires of the life she is signing up to. He sighs.
“You’ve got Giantkiller. You’re good. He’s better.”
“He hasn’t had an apprentice in years!”
“No. But he asked for you.”
