“DOMITAN OF MASBOLLE!” The sound alone was enough to make him cringe. He’d only heard Kel yell like that at Neal before. What had he done, he was racking his brain trying to figure it out when before he knew it she was in front of him. Looking to his side he realized the men he had been practicing with, including Wolset and a few others who knew Kel had moved away. Leaving him alone standing in front of the lady knight.
“What is this?” she demanded as soon as she stopped in front of him.
“Well, I don’t know…would you like me to read it and find out? Or perhaps just-”
She raised an eyebrow; he took that at his queue to stop talking. Taking the letter out of her hands he began to read it. He couldn’t believe his mother. Yes, he had told her Kel and him were…courting, but he had also told her she didn’t like parties, and people. Alright so he didn’t say that but he never thought she’d write Kel! Well, she didn’t seem too angry. She wasn’t attacking him. Making his decision he tried to look as sorry as possible.
“Well?” he asked
“Well, what? Are you going to tell your mother –”
“No!” He handed the letter back to her. Smiling he pulled her further away from the practice grounds. “No, I was wondering, would you like to go to the party when we get back. I’ll even write my mother and tell her.” He was trying to be sensible, and he would beg him mother not to bother her again. But Kel apparently didn’t trust him even to do that. She looked at him with a blank face for a few moments before she smiled at him.
“Alright, I’ll go. You owe me, we won’t tell your mother. But I will be the one writing her. Dom! She thinks I’ve been to ‘busy’ to write her a letter, If you and I had been courting ...” she trailed off shaking her head. Then turned and walked away. Dom had a faint smile still on his face when the rest of the men walked back over.
“Well. Now you see why every time she’s upset we have you talk to her?” one of his men said.
“No, He just bats his pretty eyes and-.” Before Wolset could finish Dom cuffed him over the head.
