When Owen had been invited to visit Mindelan one summer he had been ecstatic. He had never met Kel’s sisters, and now as her betrothed, he would be part of the family. Surely a family that produced a daughter as jolly as Kel must be wonderful as well.
But when Owen visited Mindelan he realized that Kel was the female anomaly of the family. The rest of the daughters were married court ladies that focused all their attention on embroidery. Owen didn’t understand how they could all be so dull if they were related to Kel. Surely some of her must have rubbed off on them sometime during all these years.
The Mindelan sons were perfectly acceptable, able knights and the like, but Owen could not get over the shock he had received from meeting Kel’s sisters. Mindelan was not nearly as jolly as he had hoped.
