Sir Owen of Jesslaw fidgeted in his seat. Lord Wyldon of Cavall, commander of the district, had been talking for twenty minutes. He’d hardly stopped to draw breath. Owen was so tired and bored that he had started to lose focus on the conversation. He almost jumped with happiness when Wyldon began to wrap the discussion up.
Wyldon reached behind his desk, and produced a folded note. “One more thing, Jesslaw.” He handed it to Owen.
Owen was confused. “My Lord?” he asked, as he took the note from him. He opened it, and flushed a deep red colour.
“This war has been long and hard, I understand. However, I would prefer it if you keep your half written love notes to Keladry of Mindelan out of my reports in the future.”
