Owen found Kel in the library, pouring over maps. “Planning a trip?” he asked, sitting next to her.
“Yes,” she said, not looking up. “Traveling with the Own this spring.”
“I wanted to show you something.” He dropped a letter before her, and watched as she skimmed it.
“You’ve cleared bandits out of Jesslaw?”
“They were the lot who killed my mother.”
She finally gazed at him, sympathy in her eyes. “You’ve wanted to do this all your life.”
He said nothing, simply nodding.
“I’m proud of you,” she said, leaning forward and offering him the most tender of kisses.
