Kel entered the bustling shop. Fabrics and delicate designs hung from the walls. Fabric mannequins dotted throughout the store modelled the latest fashion. Throngs of women – ladies, their maids, wealthy merchant’s wives – filled the shop, hustling for help from the assistant seamstresses. Kel shrank back from the crowd. She’d only wanted to visit her maid-turned-seamstress, not be squashed by these fashion-fiends.
Tian saw her amongst the crowd, and called out to her. “Lady Keladry! Lady Keladry!” Kel craned her neck, spotting her in a back part of the store, where workshops and dressing rooms would no doubt be.
Kel pushed her way through the women to Tian. Tian greeted her with a curtsey, and a wicked smile. “Through here, Lady Kel. Owen is expecting you.”
