Title: Teaching Rating: PG Card: 3 Bingo: Manners + Angry Mage + Party + Wild Card + Dark Secrets Summary: A reflection on the teaching of young mages.
The party had been fun until it started snowing which led to Tris cursing. I have no clue where she learned such language because it was colorful even by my standards. Then she started running over to her newest student, a young girl whose past had made Tris reface aspects of her own she had tried to ignore for years. It’s weird because back when we had our first few students we never really thought about the futures we would have teaching just as much if not more than we did working. Teaching magic was more work than using it was, because not only were you teaching the uses, you taught a new lifestyle for most because as a mage the individual would be the equal to people they had been several steps below. It was different and required effort to do correctly. I say correctly because I mage must learn the way that power could be used for bad (sadly most people don’t get murderers, pirates, plagues, or anything else equally dramatic to teach them this lesson). I know that Tris had to learn this the hard way, but the wayward student who made it snow would probably just be assigned some reading (unless Tris felt like using some lightening). We can only hope that we can teach our students not to repeat that which we ourselves have done.

Hmm. I like this point of view, it makes you think.
