Title: Horses

Summary: Sarralyn is sent to Corus as a punishment, and ends up taking advantage of the fact that she can shape shift.
“Sarralyn Salmalin come down from that tree,” the king call out.
“Why should I? Ma and dad have sent me to the city has punishment and gone off to the coast.”
“I am well aware of what your parents have done. I do believe I was the one the note was address to.”
“Yeah, so what do you think you are going to do with me,” She retorted taking flight even higher into the tree.
“I’m sure the Queen and I can come up with something, but to start out I thought you could start by doing some work with the riders. I understand you can talk with horses as well as your mother.”
“Better.”
“Good, then taking care of their spare mounts shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Whatever.” And with that she flew away from the tree landing silently in the horse pasture, where she decided that it would be fun to be a horse. It had been awhile.

“Are you sure that’s her?” Daine asked the woman who had first been her friend in this country.
“Yeah.”
“I can’t hear her at all.”
Coming up from behind, Numair looked over at the horse that was his daughter, “That’s probably the way she wants it. Plus, she seems to have made a new friend.”
Daine looked over to see her horse daughter in a position she had never wished to see her regardless of species.

“She certainly is more useful as a horse than she ever was as a human.”
“Ma said to pick a species to learn before shape shifting. I guess it’s just lucky that we had her as a human for as long as we did.”
“I guess. I still think it’s a little odd that my child is a horse.”
“I know, but just look at how much work she is doing for the riders, and she doesn’t even eat their grain. She never would have acted this way in her human shape. I don‘t think she even knew how to cook, but she does all her own grazing.”
