Title: Candle Ceremony

Card: 1
Bingo: Tradition + A Pretty Lady + Candles + Father and Son + Alcohol
Summary: Tom asks his father if he can go to the temple for midwinter.
AN: !!!PD SPOLIERS!!!
Tom looked over at his father with pleading eyes, “Can I please go to the candle service at the temple tonight.”
His father didn’t understand why his son wanted to spend the night lighting candles at the Goddess temple, but seeing as how it didn’t really hurt anything, he replied with a, “Sure, go ahead, but come straight home afterwards.”
“Thanks, dad.”
***
Clary’s eyes scanned the crowd of people gathered at the temple, and was surprised to see Tom amongst the worshipers. As soon as the service was over, she sought him out, “I didn’t know you normally came here on Midwinter.”
Glad for only the dim lights of the candles to hide his blush, he replied, “We don’t. I mean I don’t. I mean my family normally does the quiet family gathering thing, but I wanted to try this out this year.”
“I always come here with my family before we go home to have treats and wine while we open our presents.”
“That sounds nice.”
“Would you like to come over and have a pasty or something before going home. I doubt my parent’s would mind.”
“No, I mean I would, but I told my father I would go straight home.”
“Well, maybe next year,” she said looking down.
“Yeah, maybe next year,” And every year after that Tom celebrated with Clary at the temple before going to her house until eventually it was their house, and he didn’t have to go home because he was home.
