Title: Young Love
Rating (and Warnings): PG
Prompt: #15 Kiss
Summary: Fal/Kally. After a childhood spent at King's Reach, Kally has one more tie to break before she leaves for Carthak.
Notes: This was going to be a number of short fics featuring Faleron's many kissing partners (because we all know, Fal sure gets around), but somehow it turned into Faleron/Kally.
"I miss you."
He said it like it was a statement. Kally had been slightly apprehensive about seeing him again, after all that had happened between them. She had spent many long nights worrying that the feelings they had once felt for each other would still be there, would make what she was required to do even harder. But now, it seemed they would be able to reclaim their hearts whole - if not a little bruised - and things between them would soon be nothing more than a fond memory.
She let out a small sigh of relief. "I miss you too, Fal."
They stood in silence then. A small part of her wanted to rush across that distance between them, to hold him tightly, and for them to return to that happy childhood love that had been so sweet to experience. But she didn't. A few paces away from her, Faleron didn't move either. She could tell by the way he clenched and unclenched his hands by his sides that he wanted to, but the older, wiser part of him - for he was a man now, a knight of Tortall - knew that standing apart was all they could ever do, now.
I miss you. There had been no feeling behind his voice. It was merely a fact. She didn't miss him, not quite; she missed what they used to be, young and carefree - caught up in the ecstasy of wild, unthinking lust. Averting her eyes from his lovely face, she told him, voice wavering slightly, of how she was betrothed to Prince Kaddar. They had both expected something like this to occur, even then. Which was why Faleron said nothing, bu stepped closer to her, and took her hand.
The kiss he placed gently on the back of her hand, bowing before his princess, was more painful than all those memories she had tried to supress.
