George fingered the hilt of his dagger, his mind deep in thought. He had promised Alanna that he would relinquish all holds to the Court of the Rogue permanently, especially now that they had children, but he was feeling the pull to return.

Although Alanna never realized it, George’s time as the Rogue had instilled something in him. He felt a burning desire to protect the people that were no longer his and a stronger passion to unseat the current tyrannical Rogue. He may not have been the king, but that did not mean that he could ignore the cry of duty.

He flipped a knife into the air and caught it with his teeth, a grin spreading across his face. He had the skills to reclaim the throne, but did he have the skills to fend off his wife?

Ooh, this is great! I'd love to find out how Alanna reacted, I think she'd kind of understand that he couldn't just turn his back on his people...but she'd be angry at the same time that he's putting himself in danger and didn't discuss it with her first.
