Title: Hope and Happiness
Rating: G
Prompt: #1: Feelings and Emotions
Category: 250 words.
Word Count: 250 words.
Summary: The Circle share in some happiness.
Lark walks to the shore, gazing into the distance. Rosie lies on the blanket behind her, busking in the springtime sun. It’s a quiet time for them, even as the shrieks of their charges echo in the distance. She can make out Briar, splashing energetically through the water, and Daja encouraging Little Bear to swim out to her. Tris is walking along the sandbank, and Sandry along the shore, both picking up shells. She can hear their laughter, and she sees Little Bear run at full speed through the water to Briar, and to shake himself off over Tris and Sandry, and she hears their squeals and protests, mixed with their giggles as Daja pushes Briar into the waves to a chorus of laughter from them all.
She revels quietly in their happiness, watching as Daja pulls Briar out of the water, splashing him, and they both splash Sandry and Tris. They walk along the beach towards her, Little Bear bounding alongside, conversing energetically, giggling and laughing as Bear races the waves, and she feels at peace. She hands a blanket to Briar, who instead shakes his hair at the girls, and Sandry and Daja chase him up the path. Tris carries the basket and walks behind them, wistfully gathering the winds as she looks back down to the beach, and Lark smiles. They’ve found happiness, even through all the trouble that has befallen them, and she knows that together, they’ll have the strength to withstand all. She has hope.
