Title: Carry On Rating: PG Prompt: #3--same but different. Category: 100 words. Word count: 100 Summary: Baird vows that his family will carry on, after the death of a son. *** Baird crossed the room to his wife, quietly. Ottilia turned from the window. "Baird, Graeme is dead." She knew of the horrors of war, but this was her son. "I—-I would rather Neal hear this from us." "Of course." "Mithros, I have a letter from Graeme, still on the desk—-" On top of the account books, unopened. Baird knew where the letter was. So sad. They hadn't even read his letter yet! Beautiful/heartbreaking take on the prompt!

The pain of losing a family member is very touching and real here.

Nicki said it all. You could feel the harshness of the situation, of wanting to maintain that family unity despite such a great loss, start to close in from the peripheries.
