Title: Moving Forward
Rating: PG-13
Prompt: Same but Different
Category: 250 words
Length: 250 words
Summary: Alanna needs a bit of a push. Set the morning after the first time Alanna killed Roger and everyone found out she was a girl.
“Jon.” Alanna crossed her arms and glared at the open doorway. “Jon.”
“What?” He poked his head around the corner, his eyebrows raising as he saw that she was fully dressed below the waist, including her boots and sword, but her upper half was still completely bare.
Alanna watched as his gaze travelled from her skin to the bed; she had laid out a tunic with both a breastband and a corset on top of it. Her violet eyes filled with pleading as he looked back at her.
“I think you’re fine as you are,” he told her, and slid an arm around her waist.
She wriggled away from him. “This is serious.”
“You already know what you have to do.” Alanna didn’t move, and he sighed and picked up the corset. “You don’t need Alan anymore. This is useless now.” He gave a small laugh. “Surely after everything that happened yesterday, you’re not frightened of this?”
Alanna stuck her nose in the air. “Of course not,” she answered, and reached for the breastband.
By the time Jon had put the corset away, Alanna was fully dressed and staring in horror at her reflection in the mirror.
Jon’s mouth twitched. “If they weren’t that obvious, you wouldn’t have had to bind them.”
Alanna crossed her arms again. “Everyone’s going to stare.”
“They’re going to stare whatever you do.” He grabbed her elbow and towed her towards the door. “Come on. However bad this is, hiding in here would be worse.”
