Title: Of Ale Rating: G Prompt: #3 Same but different Category: 250 words Word Count: 200 Summary: "Is that jealousy I hear, Sabine?"
The ale was decidedly bitter to his tongue. Cheap music, stilted and loud, mixed in the background with the low murmurs of the sparsely crowded tavern. He hadn't been in one for so long, it almost felt nostalgic.
"Reminiscing over memories of your youth, old man?" The voice was laced with dripping rascality, matching her eyes. Gershom gave her a pointed look, and put his cup down firmly. She laughed, and gulped back another mouthful. Sabine always did love her drink.
"Might I remind you that I'm only twenty years older than you?"
His comment barely triggered a raised brow. Instead, the lady-knight dropped her chin in her hands and looked at Beka. Her voice caught oddly. "She's the best reflection of you, my lord. You always did see an opportunity."
Gershom nodded, and, aware of the moment, he picked up his cup and took a sip. The ale washed down sweeter this time; sweeter than sugar. "Is that jealousy I hear, Sabine?"
"What's there to be jealous about?" his former squire asked, her lashes fanning down before she bumped their cups together in toast. "We both know you certainly didn't see a daughter when you looked at me."

I adore this! I was squeeing so much by the time we got to the 'former squire', and then my brain practically imploded with happiness on the last line. ;D Also, you set the atmosphere fantastically!

Built up wonderfully to a great ending. Plus is such a vivd description, I can just picture her teasing him. Rascality might be one of my new favorite words, and this might be one of my new favorite pairings. Definitely a fun and enjoyable read!
