Title: Nineteen Rating: PG-13 Prompt: Numbers Category: 100 words Word count: 100 words Summary: Nineteen is her curse and her absolution
She is nineteen years old, and sixteen weeks away from her wedding. People are depending on it, like the nine women have been making her trousseau for seven months.
But she is nineteen days late. Then thirty. On the thirty-eighth day, the princess-to-be pays nineteen silver nobles for a solution.
With her own hands, she brews a bitter tea, which she drinks in nineteen sips, one for each year of her life. Her womb closes. Ninety-one days later, in the cold Beltane dawn, she marries her Prince.
She’s barren 1925 days, until on August 19, 416, a son is born.
