Title: Favorite Rating: G Prompt: #3, villain Category: Up to 100 words Word count: 100 Summary: King Roald and Queen Lianne always doted on their nephew, were always proud. Here at LJ.Notes: If it features Roger, is it considered 'for Kat'? ***** "Your Majesties are kind to ride with me," young Roger of Conte says, looking first to his uncle at his right and his aunt on his left. King Roald rests one gloved hand on his nephew's shoulder. "Nonsense, Roger. You're home from the City of The Gods - to spend time with family." Court is a vibrant place, a welcome break from studying in the Mithran cloisters. And his uncle still seems determined to dote on him. "The Masters suggest I may enroll at the university in Carthak," he says, and Lianne beams proudly, almost as if he was her son.

Oh! This is absolutely lovely. Thank you. If you want moar fic, check out the link in the summary. *shameless promotion* Lass: Yeah. I was going for the "we doted on him, looked after him, Roald treated him like his own son and then he tries to kill us...? What the crap?" aspect.

Mmm. I like younger Roger-Roald-Lianne triangle stuff. Particularly ones that look at the closeness and warmth that was there before all the betrayals.

Aw, family rips out your heart and stamps on it all over. This was such a sweet look at the Conte dynamics!

@kat: Yep. Young Roger, just for you. Imogen: Thanks. I love the Conte family dynamics, current generation or otherwise. Having no child of their own, and Roger being orphaned, I couldn't see Roald and Lianne not doting on him. Fenella: Thanks again. Family fic is always interesting, to me.

Eee! I've always liked the notion of Roger trying to make Lianne proud. Nicely done!

@isha: Thank you. @lisa: Thanks. Roger wasn't always crazy, imo, and this falls about two or three years before Jon's birth in my head, so Roger is still the golden child, the heir, the favorite.

Yes, that's how I always saw it, too. It was the loss of being number one that made him start pondering the darker aspects of life. I wrote a Lianne-and-Roger ficlet with similar themes, and I'm happy to see someone else doing it better!

Hee. I think your "MOAR Roger!" campaign went over nearly as well as the "more Jon and Thayet" campaign.

I wanna see a sequel with Jon and Roger. Just to see what Jon's reaction is to Roger being hers. Well done!
