Its hard to believe it is June already - half the year has already passed! I’ll keep this one short and sweet…
Staff
Two new moderators joined the team in late March. Peroxidepirate took on Games and Writer’s Circle, while Jazzyjess has been moderating Film Tv and Literature and General Chat! Congratulations girls, and keep up the good work.
Also, Greenie will be travelling quite a bit later this year, so keep your eyes peeled for a reshuffle across the board (and maybe a new moderator or two) to help cover her temporary absence. Best of luck on your travels, my dear!
Events
Goldenlake has had a fabulous few months, event-wise. We’ve had the second half of SMACKDOWN,with Owen (and his bevy of fangirls) taking home the crown! Then was One Night Stand Weekend, with Wyldon as the victor! We celebrated Goldenlake’s First Birthday, and drabbled our hearts out with the Goldenlake Drabble Tournament. Alternate Universe Week was also a big success!
Monthly Group Chats have been a hit, and they will continue on the first Sunday of every month. Dates for the coming months are June 6, July 4, August 1 and September 5, so mark them in your diary now! Check out the relevant announcement posts closer to the date for the start time in your local time zone.
Royal Week was on in June, with Minor Characters Week geared up for August! We’ve also got Piercefic10 running throughout July, and the Peculiar Pairings Ficathon running in September (woot!!!). There will be PLENTY of things to keep you guys occupied over the coming months – I hope to see you all about the board!
Projects
During my last editorial, I challenged Goldenlake to help push our fanfiction archiving project, The Kings Own (www.thekingsown.org) to over a million words. Guess what guys – WE DID IT!!! TKO has gone from strength to strength since then - at the time of press, it had reached 1,160,762 words, 1648 stories and 1,445 reviews. We’re now aiming for two million words by the end of the year. And don’t forget – review, review, review!
Malorie’s Peak Prompts are going up every second Friday and there is a list of previous prompts in the forum! Why not challenged yourself to complete a few, and maybe get a shiny custom title in the process?
In other project news, the Goldenlake Tamora Pierce Wiki is at almost 500 articles! We will be doing a wiki article drive soon, so make sure you get involved when the call for help goes out!
Giantkiller
Finally - this is the fifth issue of Giantkiller, and our biggest issue yet, with a team of 17! Special thanks to the editors, Wordy and Minuit, who have been doing a fabulous job steering the Giantkiller ship! And a congratulations to forth-time contributor, Lisafer. To all our team-members – thanks guys, this mag wouldn’t be such a success without you!
I'll miss you all so much while I'm gone.
