Title: Counting on Him Summary: Kel reflects on her relationship with Dom Rating: PG Genre: Drama/Romance? Series: PotS Warning: Sappy! A/N: I originally played around with this haiku/pseudo-haiku fic for the GDT Prompt of 'Numbers' but I never posted it. As you can see, this is why I do not write Kel/Dom stories - strange things happen whenever I try to do so. We were friends at first I always counted on him He was there for me One set of strong arms Holding me close to his chest Our hearts beat as one Two gold promise rings We could not marry at first Old rules had to change Three-year betrothal The jokes began to grow old No sharing a bed Four weeks of Congress The king pushed to have his way Our wait was over Five-minute warning Our friends became witnesses Very short wedding Six years of hoping Empty cradle felt so sad His strong love heals me Seven days of puke Morning sickness tells the tale Baby on the way Eight hours of labor Difficult delivery Pushing all night long Nine months of guessing Sapphire blue or hazel green? We each hope to win Ten perfect fingers And ten perfect little toes Dark hair, hazel eyes This is my life now I love him and he loves me Blast! He won the bet!

I think I just melted inside! I love everything about it--format, logic, Kel making jokes about it!
Sequel? ;}

Thank you for your gentle remarks! I was lurking over at the matchmaking thread and felt the utter disdain for any more Kel/Dom pairings, so I wasn't sure whether or not to add this one to the heap. Glad you liked it!

Oh, this is adorable. I love it. Yay for Haiku!fic And I really like the way you've used the prompt as well! (and we do have some K/D fans on here, even if they hide in closets )

Ugh, utter poetry It was superbly sweet, with a nicely toned final line! Nicely done!

Wow, nicely done! I'm in awe of your skillful haiku writing, and I like the way that you counted up with the numbers. It's like the Twelve Days of Christmas song, but less annoying and more Tortallan.

Thank you for being so kind. I always enjoyed haiku, but I hadn't written any in a very long time. This was fun to do and I might do more of it - if the inspiration hits me again.

Very nice, I don't usually enjoy Kel/Dom but this was very good.

journeycat: You caught me by surprise with that quote, but then I realized that the pirate-talk filter had changed the word from "win" to "booty." What a hoot! queenscovegirl: I usually don't write K/D fics. Thanks again for the lovely reviews!
