Title: Spokes Rating: PG Prompt: Escape all the waiting and staying Summary: Lark considers kinship.
Dedicate Frostpine hailed from lands so parched that their languages hoarded vowels for fear of their drying up out of people’s mouths. He was a goldsmith legend of Kugisko. His wrought iron trellised through Anderran farmsteads and the palace gates at Sotat. Woodbine Circle, though the Temples tried not to speak of such things, missed the silver trade that had passed with his novitiate. Winding Circle embraced in their turn, even with the embarrassment of Severine ei Dendrat, her necklace, and the Countess’s husband. He was, by all repute, the greatest smith mage in the world.
All Lark could think, as the man stalked past her trailing sulphur and rumour both, was that the new dedicate was a very angry man. And that, sometimes, she missed other languages. Even the vowelless ones.

This is very good, you show that Frostpine is more complex than we think.

Oh, I love Lark's perception! Sometimes I forget that Frostpine wasn't always so zen, but of course, he got that way by working past everything that happened to him. Lovely.

My throat is dry and aching for water as I read this (which is doubly impressive, since I hate the taste of water. If ambient magic exists, you have it with words.
