Title: Being Afraid
Rating: G
Prompt: 6. that we should voyage far
Summary: Tris is trying to run away from her fears.
"Hello Tris. Ambros is asking me to send you and Evvy... the river, the bridges, they're all broken again."
"All the way to Landreg?" Tris whines.
"Well, we don't need you, we only need Evvy, it's okay."
Tris peers through the bowl of water at Sandry. Tris groans inwardly, it's either she goes through the land of her enemy, or she stays here in the Duke's Citadel. With Franzen. Tris's two biggest fears that she thought she got over: her near death experience that still haunts her each night, or loving someone, namely Franzen, that still makes her feel all jumbled up each night.
Tris breaths in heavily, "no problem, I'll come as soon as I can."
--
Her smile was cruel, her eyes, lethal squints. "Try harder Tris." Tris's head pounds trying to fight the force of the hurricane. You shouldn't be fighting nature, Tris. Her voice echoes in her mind, but Tris ignores it until it becomes only a distant call in the roar of her mind. "What's going on Tris?" The voice was loud and taunting. Tris broke under the pressure, a giant wave of water overwhelms her, she sinks down under, the only thing she sees as she plunges was the Empress's savagely beautiful smile waving her goodbye.
"Tris, are you okay?!" Someone cries.
Tris licks her lips, dry and chapped, and pushes back her hair from her wet, smeared face. "I'm alive." Tris breathes.
"Yeah, after you were screaming crazily!" Franzen hisses through gritted teeth. "You are not ready to go to Landreg, I forbid you."
"You cannot forbid me from doing anything," Tris's voice became a high pitched screech. "My duty is with Sandry, I'm not afraid of what's ahead."
But as Tris glared at Franzen, the only thing she could think of was "But I'm afraid of everything behind... and right in front of me."
