Title: Falling Rating: PG Prompt: Walking in empty spaces Summary: The erstwhile acrobat does not notice the crowds.
Tharios thrummed and echoed and dust filled her mouth with the blood, red and thick inside her. It would have dried to brown on the caravan-master’s shirt, now, unless he had suddenly grown better at laundering, which might be possible in this place obsessed with clean and unclean. The walls of Khapik encircled what seemed suddenly endless space, and voices snatched at her without touching. The yellow veil was light and slippery around her neck.
—Kyria! Exeis-sou, Kyria! A room?
—Take your pay and go, girl.
—Food, lodging! All here under the All-eye. No lingering in the dark, pretty-Kyria.
—If you keep going your fool way and die, it won’t look good, will it? Not on stage. Not in Tharios. You can’t do this any more.
The former acrobat walked, and the world slipped past her as if she were still tied to air.

The notion of setting this moment in Tharios is brilliant.

Your way with words is striking, and you have a knack of being able to imprint them so that they resound with me long after I read. Lovely.
