Now I've registered on a fair amount of forums over the past few years (ok, I give myself more credit than I deserve. I've probably registered on about 5 forums in the last 3 years or so... since I got internet - so hardly any at all but I digress) and the thing that always gets me is the subject for the welcome thread that I seem to be exprected to create everywhere I go. Nevermind the content - I don't know the subject.
And after all that thought, I ended up putting 'well hello.' So much for that.
Before I get carried away in my ramblings, I'll introduce myself. As you can probaby see from my username, I am Gecko Face Eater. This, however, is a bit of a horrible mouthful (not to mention a horrible name but let's not go into that) and so it's probably best if you call me Gecko. Some people call me Gecks. Some prefer to shorten this already monosyllabic name further and call me Geck or even Gec. If you like, you can call me Emma which is my real name.
I found out about Goldenlake partly from LJ and partly from Steelsings (another Tamora Pierce board that I snuck over from). I initially saw this board mentioned on some LJ community... I forget which, and then was reminded of it by a post on Steelsings. I decided to check it out.
If you have managed to read this far, then well done. You get a sticker. Few people manage to listen to me without resorting to plugging their ears with cheese or something (or possibly covering their eyes in the case of the internet).
Here are some random facts about me:
* I am a Tamora Pierce fan (though I'm sure everyone figured that by now. I prefer the Tortall books to the Emelan ones. My favourite book is Wild Magic (though I haven't read it in years...) and my favourite series is The Song of the Lioness.
* I'm 18 years old.
* I love to morris dance (in the northwest clog style). I also love to juggle, and I ride a unicycle.
* I'm vaguely obsessed with grammar and tend to notice any mistakes people make very quickly. Sadly, I'm not so good at proof-reading my own work. On the up-side, I never do any work, and therefore never have to proofread.
Nice to meet you all. I look forward to poking around this board (because if I looked backward, I wouldn't be able to see what I was doing!)
