Wyldon took a moment to be pleased that the rains held off and kept the tilting fields dry – he disliked cleaning mud out of his equipment and, besides, he didn’t particularly want to send the best Squire flying into said mud.

Oh, it's just like Wyldon to notice all the details about the dry fields and the rain holding off. And to be gruffly pleased that he doesn't have to send Kel flying into the mud.

I love this! I really love any moment of Wyldon being a real human as opposed to the stiff training master we see him as.
