Bear Hunt There's of course the song - not over it, not under it, but through it! A 'bear' can be an obstacle your character has to surmount. Then there's the thrill of the hunt itself, or the symbolism suggested by bears (protective, gentle, fierce, etc.). In more literal interpretations, who's the bear and why's he hunting or being hunted? Some ideas: The Circle go on the hunt for Little Bear. This was of course how the whole climax of Magic in the Weaving happened. Daine-centric fic, or Galla-centric fic, works too - how do you talk down/escape a rabid bear?! And what about the bear-like characters in the Tortall-verse (Raoul comes to mind), or Tris's prospective werebear at Lightsbridge? And you can go the stargazing route, too - Ursa Major, other invented constellations, even teddy bears if you so desire (hey, modern AUs are my jam).

I love the idea of the Circle going on a hunt for Little Bear! He's such a cute dog. I think I might write something about that, even if I don't put it up here. It's an idea that has so much potential!
