Series: Promised Title: Child Rating: PG Event: 110 Word Hurdles Competition: Pentathlon Words: 110 Summary: Some things change with time, other things change when they have to.
------------------------------------
Two years it had been since the girl appeared at her stand and asked how fortunes were read in cards. Her voice quiet and reserved, betrayed only by the brightness of curiosity in intelligent eyes. Unlike any child the old woman had met before, but a child no less.
She had forgotten, almost, the strange young noblewoman. But today there she was. Without the watchful guards it could have been the same girl, wandering the street.
But her eyes were different, guarded.
Only a short time had passed, yet as the girl was whisked from the scrum of beggars and soldiers it was clear. She was not a child anymore.

I really like the POV you've chosen and how the fortune-teller can see such a change in Dove without really knowing anything about her.

I agree with mistrali, the POV is great in this, and it works so well because Dove knew and spoke with all sorts of people, so seeing her through their eyes is an interesting experience.
