Title: sweet nothings Rating: G Word Count: 216 Bingo: Picnic+Holiday+Lemonade+Kiss+Riding Summary (and any Warnings): The perfect day to spend with family.
I think this is far enough, Tris said. My bruises are getting bruises.
Briar and Daja wheeled their horses around and galloped back to where she was already dismounting; a gust of grass seeds and dust, stirred up by the horses, parted around her as one of her breezes steered the irritants away. The sun was hiding its face behind a wisp of cloud. Tris sat down on the picnic blanket and let the warmth sink in while Briar and Daja unpacked.
“Definitely better than teaching,” Briar commented. When she looked over, he was reclining, very much a sunflower with his eyes closed, face tilted to the sky.
“I told you.” Daja handed out the cups and poured them some lemonade. There was a young woman at the Summersea markets with her own stall, and Daja had finally worked up the courage to go and talk with her the week before.
Briar took a sip of his and made a face. “A bit tart.”
“You’re a bit tart,” Daja retorted, giving him a thump. The lemonade was momentarily forgotten as they began to tussle, Briar grinning and making kissy faces all the while.
Tris watched the pair of them roll onto the grass and sipped her lemonade, finding the day to be oddly enjoyable thus far.

Hooray! I'm loving all the Emelan fic. This is so sweet and sassy and in character! Great dialogue, too.
