Malorie Peak Prompt's 12 Days of Ficmas For the holiday season, MPP will have twelve prompts for the 12 Days of Ficmas! All of the rules for writing for MPP apply (see the Guidelines) when writing for the 12 Days of Ficmas, but as long as you are inspired by the prompt words, you can write any story you wish (even if it is not a holiday story). These prompts will also be entered into the Masterlist of Prompts so they can be used as story inspirations past this holiday season. When posting for the 12 Days of Ficmas, please use the following posting format: Thread heading: 12DF: Title, rating (#prompt number) e.g. 12DF: Midwinter Madness, PG (#96) Title: Rating: Prompt: Summary: ... *story*
Prompt List: Day One: Jolly (#96) Day Two: Candles (#97) Day Three: Mistletoe (#98) Day Four: Gifts (#99) Day Five: Wonder (#100) Day Six: Family (#101) Day Seven: Chimney (#102)

Day One of the 12 Days of Ficmas brings us the prompt: Jolly
There's just something about the holiday season that brings out the best moods in us. Whether or not we are normally bubbly and happy, having friends and family around us, great food to eat and gifts to give and receive can put a smile on our faces. Tortall and Emelan both have festive Midwinter seasons... what is jolly about the characters participating in them?

I need to remember to write a fic for this prompt in between my Wishing Tree stuff! Perhaps with some hijinks...

Day Two of the 12 Days of Ficmas brings us the prompt: Candles
There is something about candles that brings to mind the holiday season: their flickering light in frosted windows; the warmth they bring in tradition and family gatherings; and how they illuminate those long, dark days of midwinter. They are used in religious ceremonies, to light parties and festivities, and to light loved ones' journeys home.

Day Three of the 12 Days of Ficmas brings us the prompt: Mistletoe
We all know what to do here. Whether sweet, surprising, a first, a last, passionate or friendly... it's time to pucker up!

These are so cute, omg. And a nice contrast to the tone a lot of the wishing tree requests are angling for! (Just saying )

Day Four of the 12 Days of Ficmas brings us the prompt: Gifts
To give, and to receive! Have a little gift-giving fun in Tortall or Emelan this season. What's ever fashionable lady have on her list this season? How do different cultures handle gifts? And what does it tell about the characters, depending on what gifts they give, and get?

Day Five of the 12 Days of Ficmas brings us the prompt: Wonder
Especially when we are children, the holiday seasons always came with a sense of awe, anticipation, and surprise. It is this sense of wonder that made those days so special, and surely it isn't that different for the children of Tortall and Emelan as Midwinter approaches! Or, have your adult characters capture some of this magical feeling themselves... there is so much in these worlds that can inspire it.

Day Six of the 12 Days of Ficmas brings us the prompt: Family
No matter what you celebrate, or how, family is a central idea of the holiday season. Spending time, and showing our appreciation, for the people we love most. Family doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't have to be about blood relations: it is about the people we choose to bring closest to our hearts. Write about families in Tortall and Emelan for this prompt!
