Summary: The king learns to explore on his own.
Later that Monday, the king set to work. The table was cleared, the piano was tuned. Nothing was left but to do. His sweat dripped, marring the wood, but he didn't care. For once he set his mind to something, and he would do it for the woman he loved. He knew that she would never love him in return, and he made peace with that. Sometimes on unproductive days his mind would drift unhelpfully. She never said she doesn't love you. She just wants you to prove your love.
Midwinter passed and so did Midsummer. He wasn't finished yet, but when he was, why did it matter? She was off in Tyra forever, and he was left alone to hone his genius and learn the vitality of proof.
