Title: Wax Doll Paradox IV Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 234 Pairing: Alanna/Jonathan Round/Fight: 3A Summary: It's dangerous when you don't know the rules of the game. Warnings: Multiple character deaths.
AN: Another Paradox prompt, #4; "Alanna neither does and does not finds the Wax Dolls"
When Sir Alan of Trebond rides out from Corus, she carries secrets with her. One: Sir Alan is a woman, the first female knight in the last hundred years whose secret is hidden from all but a few: her adopted father, Gary, Jonathan.
Two: The Duke of Conte’s gaze sits hungrily on the throne, but nothing she can say to Jonathan will convince him of her certainty. She fears the next missive from Corus will bear the word: “patricide”.
Three: Deep in her bags is a silk-wrapped bundle, and there’s something about it…but she can never remember what it is that awakens a tiny thread of dread in her heart. She’s looked into it (and something she can’t remember thrashes at the corner of her mind) and afterwards she remembers nothing amiss.
Still, she’s taken the smooth and un-torn silk package from the Duke of Conte’s rooms, and she will dispose of it where Jon will never know.
Three secrets she rides away with, her Prince’s final words following her south as she rides. On the third day, finally far enough from the city that she is starting to feel safe again; Alanna stokes a fire hot and high, burning dry and fast.
When she tosses the silk onto the flames, it’s over too fast for her to even shriek his name: Jonathan--!

Eek, so deliciously creepy! And I like the way you formatted this one, it works really well.

I love the way the story turns out in this one, Alanna unwittingly carrying out Roger's will. (Except that I am also rather sad, and now many characters I loved are no longer. Eep.)

Whoa. Fantastic ending, and an eerie parallel to Roger's compulsion of Jon in A:tFA. And, oh, patricide. Does that mean Roger will have compelled Jon to kill Roald?
