Title: Hauntings Rating: PG Prompt: #2, Hauntings Summary: Two poems from Neal to Daine. First: free verse. Second: ABCB. Kinda creepy.
To Veralidaine Sarrasri, in hopes that you live to be enlightened: Daine: what is the absence of love, but death? And what is the absence of life, but death? I cannot heal if I have not been heal'd, I cannot guide if I have no guide, And I cannot cry wolf if a wolf has not come. So spare me the want of love, Take me away from the dull hold of death, Heal me in your simple way, And light a lantern to ease our path.
-
When you were a rabbit, you could not stop the chase of a panther. But you are a human! Remember that, and rise. Wake from your naive, haunted sleep, Rip off the cobwebs and uncover lies. You are not old; you must preserve your youth! Step away from his tomb; remember that, and rise. Come to the moon and breathe life afresh, And then we will suffer in unity, demise. -Neal

Ooh, they are kind of creepy! But very well written, so kudos for that. And I sincerely hope that, as with all of Neal's poetry, these two were never actually sent.

Both are really lovely, but I like the second one in particular, mostly for Neal being slightly mean about Numair. The jealousy is cute!
