Title: Coming Home Whole Rating: G Prompt: #1, Homecoming Summary: The four return to Disipline Cottage for the first time after Namorn and, in many ways, it is the first time home since they all left four years before. Notes: No warnings, just some fluffy circle. This is a sort-of early-Ficmas gift for Rachy, because I was unmotivated until I read through the wishlists and hers caught my eye for this prompt.
Light flickered from the windows of the small cottage, warm and welcoming, as the four stood on the pathway outside. They took a moment to admire the sight in front of them without slowing their movements, took the time to look to the familiar sights and small changes and all that spelled out home to them all, but didn’t stop unlatching the gate and filing into the yard and walking towards the door. Because it had been a long time since they had been in this place, even though they had left for Namorn only a summer before. Because coming home trapped in your own head and lonely and angry and alone was not the same as coming home whole.
Each was a comforting presence in the others’ minds as they reached the door and looked at each other. There were dark corners they were not ready for the others to see, of course. Sandry had her resentments and Briar his regrets, Daja her guilt and Tris her deep-rooted fears, but those dark corners were small ones, now. And the light filtering out through Discipline’s windows shone on them all.
Sandry opened the door. As one, they walked inside.

AWWWWWW. This: "Sandry had her resentments and Briar his regrets, Daja her guilt and Tris her deep-rooted fears, but those dark corners were small ones, now. And the light filtering out through Discipline’s windows shone on them all." This is beautiful and such wonderful characterization and it's so sweet without being unrealistic. Wonderful, Kris.

This really captures what it could be like for the four of them. Beautifully written. I hope you'll be writing more Circle!fic for Advent?

AWWWWWW. This is beautiful and such wonderful characterization and it's so sweet without being unrealistic. Wonderful, Kris. Thank you very much! I am glad you liked it, and that it felt realistic, as I didn't want to get too into the characters' heads (and don't often go for fluffy fic, as you know ;D) Aww, this is just adorably sweet. Perfect use of the prompt. Thank you! There are so many homecomings in Pierce's work, but a happy one for the four, after the disaster in the beginning of WotE just seemed perfect. Plus, it was Rachy's idea. lol! This section is amazing - so true, and it leaves you with a feeling of hope. What a wonderful response to the first prompt! Love it ;D Thank you! I am so glad you liked it. <3 This really captures what it could be like for the four of them. Beautifully written. I hope you'll be writing more Circle!fic for Advent? And it sort of was, since they had their homecoming at the beginning of WotE and it was marred by all these things. I love that by the end we got the sense that they were on their way back to what they wanted to be, together, and hope I got that across here, in their second homecoming. And, yes, for sure! I will dabble in some Tortall pieces, of course, but Emelan is where my heart is. <3 Thanks for the review!
