Title: Uninterrupted Sleep Rating: PG Event: 100 word dash Words: 100 Summary: Zaimid breaks the news of Dove's ascension to Sarai.
--
Sarai is a different creature when she is asleep.
At arm's length, Zaimid imagined her to sleep fitfully, caught in endless dreams. Sarai dreams - has always dreamed - of peace, however.
Now, the Eastern symbol of peace shines over her homeland, but at what cost. Is the price for the new order Sarai's self-imposed exile? Will she want to return to the Copper Islands now?
He wakes her, and Sarai's inner peace shatters, letting conflict reign supreme. Is she happy that Dove is queen, or upset that she is not?
That night, for the first time, she sleeps restlessly.

I love the sensitivity in this - it's one thing to hypothesize over what bothers or doesn't bother Sarai after she leaves the islands, but it's another totally lovely thing to see Zaimid ponder it.

This is so thoughtful, and so pretty. I agree with Lisa -- the sensitivity is what strikes me the most in this piece.

This is lovely. Like Lisa and Kiz, I love the sensitivity in Zaimid's feelings and thoughts towards Sarai, as well as getting a glimpse into how difficult her exile must be sometimes, regardless of the fact it is self-imposed.
