Title: I Won’t Go
Rating: G
Word Count: 267
Pairing: Dom/Evin
Round/Fight: 2/A
Summary: I won't go, until you come outside... (lyrics from We the Kings ‘Check Yes Juliet’)
Evin leant back against the wall, glaring at Dom’s locked door. He’d been waiting out there since just before dawn, and now the noon bell was ringing. Evin huffed, seriously considering breaking down the door. He’d tried knocking, asking nicely, begging, beating his fists and kicking the hard wood of the door. He would have just picked the lock if Lord Raoul hadn’t caught him and confiscated his picks.
He was casting his eyes around for something to use as a ram when Raoul himself came around the corner.
Seeing the Rider was still there, not so patiently waiting outside Dom’s door, Raoul sighed. “You can’t stay here, Evin,” he said, resting a hand on the young man’s shoulder. “He’ll come out when he’s ready.”
Evin’s eyes pleaded as he said, “Can’t we just break the door down?”
“Be patient, Evin.”
“He shouldn’t be alone right now,” Evin said, becoming desperate, “he could be dead in there for all we know!”
Raoul raised his eyebrows, trying not to feel too sorry for Evin. He turned to Dom’s door and knocked. “Sergeant? Are you alive in there?”
“Yes, Sir,” came the muffled reply through the door.
“Satisfied?” Raoul asked.
“No.”
Raoul’s eyebrows came together in what could almost be called a scowl. “Evin, it’s time for you to go-“
“But, Sir-!” Evin protested.
“I want you out of the Own barracks. Immediately.” Raoul moved between Evin and the door to Dom’s room, folding his arms, everything about the friendly giant suddenly menacing.
Evin’s shoulders slumped, defeated. “Tell Dom I’ll be waiting outside,” he said before slowly walking away.
