Title: Blessings (2)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 356 words
Pairing: Team Girl Power
Round/Fight: 1/B
Summary: Buri confesses, and Thayet gives Buri her blessing.
“Raoul and I are in the process of beginning a relationship.”
Thayet blinks, her hand wrapped around the hilt of her sword, pointed in Buri’s direction as Buri closes the door behind her. Thayet sheaths her sword and tosses it onto the pile of fancy bed cushions littering the floor before leaping up and throwing her arms around Buri tightly, letting out a small squeal.
“It’s only taken you twenty years, Buri.” She laughs giddily, and Buri hits her shoulder.
“I was fifteen when we met. You would have used him as a target for archery practice.”
“Fine. So you had thirteen years to convince yourself that it wasn’t a childish infatuation after you had turned twenty-one.” Thayet smiles, breaking away, and Buri elbows her in the ribs.
“And it’s taken me nine days to properly tell you.” Buri says sharply, and Thayet nods.
“You don’t need to tell me why.” Thayet says softly, but Buri shakes her head.
“You’ve always told me everything. I owe you this at least, especially when the whole Court brimmed with gossip and I wouldn’t even tell you when I knew that you knew that it was the truth.”
“I didn’t want to tell you and then you not approve. Or to put you in a difficult position, if it ended badly. Or in a difficult position at all.”
“Buri, I’ve had nineteen years to figure out my blessing for you and Raoul. The only man in our lives I would question was if you developed an attraction to Stone Mountain, or Lord Meron. If he makes you happy, then that makes me happy.” She holds out her arms, and Buri walks into them.
“I think Pathum would like him, too.” Thayet smiles, and Buri chuckles.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier.”
“I’m sorry I became so used to the Court ladies I assumed you’d tell me immediately as a matter of vital state importance.”
Buri snorts, and wipes Thayet’s eyes with her sleeve, blinking quickly.
“You have my blessing, Buriram. And I couldn’t be happier or prouder of you.” She says quietly, and Buri smiles, hugging her tightly.
