Title: Don't Fight It II
Rating: PG
Word Count: 275
Pairing: Jon/Kel
Round/Fight: 1/F
Summary: Don’t Fight It II: Jon says he can sing like Kenny Loggins. Kel doesn’t quite believe him. The whole miniseries is dedicated to muse, who inspired this. Set in the Agents universe, which as Jon and Kel as FBI agents.
-
“So, you like Kenny Loggins because you like his style?” Kel wanted to know.
Jon shrugged. A smile tugged at his lips. “I sing like him too,” he said, with no lack of self-confidence.
Kel raised her eyebrows, but didn’t say anything. Previous experience with what happened when the trainees in her batch had challenged Neal to make good on his boasts and serenade her had all but made her wise to the fact that some things were not meant to be proven empirically.
(And it had been awkward. Terribly awkward.)
Jon caught her skepticism well enough. “Here, I’ll show you,” he said, going over to the CD player before Kel could make any sort of protest. He flipped it open, pulled out a CD, popped in The Greatest Hits of Kenny Loggins, and waited for the music to start. The song was Don’t Fight It – Kel recognised it with some hesitation. She knew little enough about music except that most of her fellow FBI agents couldn’t sing.
Jon crossed the room in a few quick steps, rejoining her. “I want you to close your eyes,” he said solemnly, and Kel obeyed. “Pretend,” he continued, once her eyes were shut, “That this is me. I’m singing like Kenny Loggins, with the nice beard and all. Now. Who said anything about my singing?”
Kel wanted to protest that this wasn’t the same thing at all, but he laid a finger across her lips, motioning for her to be silent. It couldn’t hurt, she decided, as she kept her eyes squeezed tightly shut. They could pretend, as long as the song lasted, that it was true.
