Irrefutable III PG 175 Rikash 1/B Pretty fail, but in my defence I've been in hospital since Saturday.
You are as mortal as I am she is about to counter, and I’m not falsely modest, I just don’t like you but he interrupts.
‘Have you ever considered what you are beyond Tortall?’ And she pauses, closes her mouth. ‘What of those Scanrans whose future hinged upon winning that northern war of yours?’
And the way he says it makes her want to slap him, duel him, beat him into the dirt (a moment later she realises her folly) for disregarding the horror she had faced, condemned by the gods themselves – but again she hits an uncomfortable truth.
‘You, the figurehead for the destruction of an entire way of life.’ And the distance between them is null and void, when he stares at her like that, so full of contempt, a vicious smile twisting his mouth. ‘My people did not slaughter the defeated troops at Frasrlund, the City of the Gods,’ later, she reasons they would have begged for death anyway (or tries to).
‘You, Keladry of Mindelan, are the reason my kind exist at all. So tell me. Who is the greater monst – ’
Later she realises she shouldn’t have left, then, because that was letting him win.

Wowza. Will this continue? I love the battle of the morals here, and that Kel's ethics won't let her compete with his. Thank you for sharing!
