Title: Acedia Rating: PG Length: 112 words Competitor: Baird Round/Fight: 1/D Summary: Discouragement. She has her dreams, but he can’t support them. (note that “discouragement” was replaced by “sloth” when the seven deadly sins evolved.)
He’s never been able to tell people to live their dreams; it’s too hopeful, and he’s seen so many dreams die under his fingers, be them his own or his patients’. So when she comes to him, seeking support for her ideas, he shakes his head and says nothing. He can’t be the one to tell her lies, to pretend the world is a better place than it really is.
Her full lips turn down into a frown, and her eyebrows pinch together, showing her confusion and frustration. He feels guilty for a moment, but realizes that he can’t encourage her to hope that they could be anything more than they are.
