Title: Keeping Faith Rating: PG Length: 146 Competitor: Faleron Round/Fight: 2/A Summary: Doubts and stuff.
I thought, he had said, that you wanted this. I did. Then what’s changed, Keladry? What’s gotten into you? His eyes, so very dark (his mother, the countess at King’s Reach, had a Hurdik Great Great Grandmother) – difficult to meet at the best of times – see through her skin. It didn’t feel right. Liar. Disgusted, he leaves the room. She sits on the bed. Too hot. She pulls off her shirt. Chilly spring air though there are daffodils in the gardens. Legs leaden in breeches so she lets them fall to the ground as well. Silver, the breath seeping from her. King’s Reach Crimson, the tunic crumpled and forgotten upon a chair. She pulls it on, the shoulders of it slipping off her own. Everyone is right: he is too beautiful to be with her. But that doesn’t make it any easier to let him go.

I used to be Kel of King’s Reach. Then I decided hopeless was more accurate.
