Title: Barrier Rating: R Length: 221 Character: Jon Summary: “Roald is not yet king.” Notes: I have no idea where all their reversed power plays and emotional drama comes from. They warped my head or something It hung between them, wordless and palpable, like a reality waiting to shatter the aftermath of carnal collision. Kel listened to the ragged breaths he drew in, impressed by his surprising endurance and the confirmation of all that his name lived up to. There was a man underneath his crown, and soon, she would break through to the Jon that Raoul knew and saw and felt compelled to lay down his life for. But first, the barrier between them had need to be addressed. “He will be my King,” she said quietly, and bit her lip when the fingers trailing across her spine stilled. “Roald will be the one I serve.” “I’m glad.” Looking up, she found him watching her with something akin to respect. His thumb padded across her bottom lip as he explained. “I think I knew that since the beginning, and Roald is a greater prince than any you or I have ever known.” “But Roald is not yet king, and he is not the one who currently has my fealty.” Emboldened, she ran her palm across his chest, and threw her leg over both of his. Their thighs slid and scraped together, and she raised herself above him. His desire, his arousal—his intensity—made her feel so powerful. “It is your will that commands me.”

I like Kel's search for the man beneath the crown - it's like this relationship is a work in progress, and not something to (only) revel in.

My favourite part, I think, is that Kel knows that she will be loyal to Jon's son. Perfect!

*squee* I love the spice and the seriousness and the intensity of their relationship! I love Kel's loyalty to Roald, and Jon's understanding of it.
