Title: The Wife Always Knows
Rating: G
Summary: Rispah tries to warn George that the wife always finds out.
Author's Note: A fun little piece for me to break my writing drought.

“She’s not goin’ to like this George.” Rispah studied her cousin as she sat on a corner of his desk.
“I know.” George, the Baron of Pirate’s Swoop, and former King of the Court of Rogue cringed at the thought of what Alanna’s reaction would be. “But what she doesn’t know won’t hurt me.”
“Oh George,” Rispah let out a throaty laugh, “you know she’s goin’ to find out sooner or later.” She leaned in closer and smiled mischievously. “The wife always knows.”
“Alanna is not going to know. I am very discreet.” George glared at Rispah.
“You might be, but what about whoever’s doin’ it this time?” She crossed her arms and arched her eyebrow at him suggestively.
“Mia’s very discreet too; and very good at what she does.” He tried to ignore his cousin and pretended to be engrossed in the report in front of him.
“Men always say that.” Rispah said disdainfully, and raised her hips further onto his desk. “They always underestimate a wife – which can be quite dangerous – especially if that wife is the Lioness.”
“Don’t you have somethin’ better to do?” George sighed. “You have a husband and twelve children to nag. Leave me be.”
“Fine.” Rispah huffed. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” She jumped off his desk and rearranged her skirts. “I’ll go and start plannin’ your funeral.” She couldn’t resist a parting shot as she left his study.
George glared at her departing back and bit back a retort. Hating that she was probably right, he went back to reading the report Mia just sent him about Alanna’s movements on the still dangerous northern border.
